Immunization
Awareness Month

August is Immunization Awareness Month

August is National Immunization Awareness Month.
At Terros Health, we’re highlighting the importance of vaccination for people of all ages.  Vaccines protect us from dangerous preventable diseases like Chickenpox, Flu, Hepatitis, Measles, Mumps, Meningococcal, Pneumonia, Shingles, Pertussis (whooping cough), Polio and more. Vaccines help protect us from getting these diseases, they also help prevent spreading these diseases to people who are unvaccinated.

Immunizations are not just for children, adults may also be at risk for vaccine-preventable disease due to age, job, lifestyle, travel, or health conditions. Every year, thousands of adults in the United States become seriously ill and are hospitalized because of diseases that vaccines can help prevent. Many adults even die from these diseases, and by getting vaccinated, you can help protect yourself and your family from serious, sometimes deadly, diseases.

The COVID-19 pandemic reminds us of how serious diseases are and the impact they can have when people do not have protection through natural immunity or vaccines. Diseases affect our health, our well-being, and our community.

The BA.5 COVID-19 Variant

The Omicron wave of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic is not over, and the newest variant may be the most contagious strain. The BA.5 subvariant is now the dominant strain of COVID-19 in the United States, spreading rapidly and driving new infections.

The good news is that vaccination and booster shots still protect you from becoming severely sick. Vaccines against COVID-19 continue to protect people from developing severe disease, especially for those who receive a booster dose.  A booster shot helps maximize your protection. The vaccines also help in preventing hospitalization and death.

Terros Health offers the Moderna vaccine and booster shot.

– Moderna vaccine for children & adults.
Minimum age requirement is 6 months.

– Moderna booster shot for adults only,
must be at least 18 years old.

Currently, over 223 million people have been fully vaccinated in the United States. Our health centers are staffed by caring professionals who can answer your questions and help you feel comfortable. We encourage you to bring family members and friends!
