April is Defeat
Diabetes Month

Learn how to reduce your risk.

April is Defeat Diabetes Month.
During the month of April we’re inviting our patients to schedule a health exam and to get their blood sugar checked. It’s important to remember that lifestyle changes such as losing weight, eating healthy and engaging in regular exercise may reduce the progression of prediabetes and Type 2 diabetes.
Did you know that more than 37.3 million Americans have diabetes?  That’s about 1 in every 10 people in the U.S. and Prediabetes is even more common with more than 96 million adults having prediabetes – that’s about 1 in 3 people.
When diabetes is not managed it can be fatal, other risk factors include kidney failure, heart disease, stroke, lower-limb amputations, and blindness. In the last 20 years, adults diagnosed with diabetes has more than doubled.  At Terros Health, we believe that prevention is key. Start by having your blood sugar checked and talk with our medical experts about healthy steps you can take to reduce your risk.

We offer patients the rapid glucose screening test and the A1C screening test,
along with education on prediabetes and Type 2 diabetes.

How to get started with weight-loss and stay on track.

Losing weight doesn’t have to mean losing a lot of weight. For example, taking off just 5% to 10%—that’s 10 to 20 pounds for a 200-pound person—can improve someone’s health and well-being significantly.   If you have diabetes, you may find your blood sugar levels are easier to manage and that you need less diabetes medicine after you lose weight.  Many people who lose weight notice that they have more energy and sleep better too.

Diabetes can be successfully managed.

Work with our medical providers to set personal goals
and be sure to monitor your critical health numbers, including your:

-Weight-
-Blood pressure-
-Blood sugar level-
-Blood cholesterol level-

Taking these steps may also help prevent serious complications that can arise from diabetes.
