Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT)

 

Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) is a medically proven path to help you recover from Opioid addiction. MAT uses medications that address the withdrawal and cravings for opiate based drugs. These drugs include, but are not limited to, heroin, fentanyl, and prescription pain relievers such as Vicodin, Percocet, and Hydrocodone. Our MAT program is part of an integrated model of care – this means that we help you access medical care, personalized counseling, and support in building life skills for a successful recovery journey.

What to expect
at our MAT program.

Our Health Centers’ MAT program is staffed by medical providers along with counselors and peer community health workers.  These are individuals who are specially trained in working with or who have lived experience with substance use treatment and disorders.  During your time with Terros Health , you will receive:

nutrition
Induction (initial) appointment and maintenance care from your MAT provider
heart
A primary care provider (PCP) if you need one
nutrition
A behavioral health assessment & a primary care appointment
heart
Laboratory blood work

Terros Health offers Suboxone, Subutex, and Vivitrol as treatment options.

Is MAT available for teenagers and/or women who are pregnant?
We help individuals from all walks of life who are seeking recovery from opioid use. Our health experts and treatment program also provide comprehensive services for teenagers and pregnant women.
I'm pregnant, how do I request a Doula coach?

Our Doulas provide the following services:

• Home visits & support calls
• Follow up after doctor appointments
• Attend labor & delivery
• Follow up after labor & delivery
• Coordination of care with medical providers and recovery treatment team

• Provide resources and information to ease the expecting mother’s anxiety or discomfort

How long do I have to be sober prior to my appointment?
Patients must be 24-hours sober prior to initial induction
How long does it take medication to work?
Patients should start to feel relief from Suboxone within 20-30 minutes of sublingual dosage.
Why do I need labs done for this program?
We may monitor your liver function and make sure there are not other health concerns.
What is the difference between Vivitrol and Suboxone?
Vivitrol is extended release Naltrexone. It’s a shot that you will receive once a month that works to block the cravings. Suboxone, taken under the tongue, is Buprenorphine and Naltrexone combined. The buprenorphine will help with the physical withdrawal and the Naltrexone with the mental cravings.
Do I need to go to groups to be in the program?
We highly recommend that you participate in group counseling, therapy, or outside meetings to help support your recovery.
Do I need to go to Detox first?
This depends on your usage and history. If it is difficult to abstain the 24- hours required prior to first initial appointment or the provider feels it would be safer, Detox may be recommended.
Will the Suboxone take away my pain?
Terros Health’s MAT Program is not designed to monitor pain management. We recommend that you seek assistance via a pain management clinic. Certain pain medications are contra indicated while taking Suboxone.
Do you prescribe Methadone?
No, Terros Health does not participate in Methadone treatment.
Do I need to come every day like other clinics?

No, your first 2 appointments are often done in our center.  However, Terros Health does offer Telehealth  (video visits) options as well.

What if I do not have insurance?
Terros Health accepts you regardless of your insurance or financial status. We can help you apply for coverage through Arizona’s Medicaid agency, AHCCCS.

We also offer a discount program that allows you to pay reduced rates for services based on specific qualifications.

Can I use my own pharmacy?

Yes, if they carry the medication. Terros Health partners with a pharmacy that sends medication by mail.

Do you have weekend appointments and are you 24- hours?

No, we do not have weekend appointments. The hours of our Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) program are Monday – Friday from 8am- 5pm.
